Dornfelder Grape Juice

Time of harvest September
Serving temperature 10 – 12°C
Recommended dishes pork, veal, chicken & turkey, beef, pasta, German classics

Over the past three years we have developed a very spe-cial procedure for pressing single-varietal German wine grapes that retains the typicity of the grape within the juice. The powerful texture of the ‘Dornfelder’ variety makes it particularly good at transferring the grape’s aromas to the juice (71°Oechsle). Our grape juices are high quality with good potential for development. As it matures in the bottle, the juice sheds surplus acid in the form of what is known as ‘tartar’, a sediment. This sediment will remain in the bottom of the bottle if you pour the juice carefully.

With meat and fish: Beef, Chicken & turkey, Pork, Veal
Cuisine: German classics
Goes with: Pasta
Colour: dark
Juice style: fruity , mild, sweet , velvety soft

The juice is a deep purple colour. The aromas are intense and cha-racterised by ripe, dark berries such as blackcurrant, mulberry and blackberry. These are joined by plum cake and vanilla notes with a hint of mint. The juice has a pleasant sweetness which does not dominate, balanced out by fresh acidity and a gentle, well-integrated tannin framework. The intense dark red fruit aromas return in the finish as a ripe fruity echo. A well-balanced, not overly sweet grape juice shaped by its opulent berry aromas. This juice is very enjoyable as a spritzer, best served one part juice to one part sparkling water. As a spritzer the juice goes with classic German dishes such as stuffed cabbage or roast beef with onions and roast potatoes, as well as with hearty stews such as Pichelsteiner.
